Liverpool Eyeing Move for Pape Diakhate

Print for later?

Monday, 17th August 2009

According to French source Mercato365 Liverpool are preparing to move for Dynamo Kyiv centre-back Pape Diakhate. The former Nancy defender has been impressive since his move to the Ukraine, catching the eye in Dynamo’s Champions League and UEFA Cup matches. Diakhate had interested Marseille earlier in the summer with a deal very nearly being completed. Bordeaux had also tracked the defender although the €10M asking price had put off the Ligue champions.

Diakhate’s contract expires in 2011 and it seems likely Dynamo Kyiv would demand a similar €10M from Liverpool for their star centre-back.
