Bayern Munich Swooping for Schalke’s Rafinha

Print for later?

Sunday, 30th August 2009

Bayern Munich want to make one more signing as they make a beat the deadline move. The player is attracting the Bundesliga giant’s attention is Schalke’s Brazilian full-back Rafinha and Bayern have been given encouraging signals over a potential move. It seems that Schalke, coached by last season’s Bundesliga winning boss Felix Magath, are experiencing cash flow problems and are desperate for some money to be brought into the club, hence their willingness to deal over the 23 year-old.

No deal has been completed yet as Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed, "It’s not concrete because no deal has been announced. We are thinking about it". Schalke’s Magath though has suggested Rafinha could be on his way, saying, "The player wants to go, yes, that’s what he said".

To lose the highly rated Brazilian will be a blow to the Ruhr side, and Schalke’s signing the player to a contract to 2011 was further evidence, if any was needed, as to how pivotal he was considered to their future plans.
