I think the european model for the brazilian championship has been succesfull, no question. The league is better and increased attendance is proof. I hope all south american league would do away with the half leagues (2 championships per season) and copy Brazil.

Is it really failing? There were 70k at the Fluminense and Palmeiras game this weekend. 80k for Flamengo v Santos the week before. 80k there on Friday night for Vasco da Gama’s promotion party. Série A has been fascinating to follow this season. Now that Flamengo have arrived suddenly from nowhere and could well pinch the title it’s going to be an amazing finish. There are 5 teams still in with a shout with 4 games to go and the relegation picture is far from clear. There aren’t still many teams with nothing to play for, Corinthians and Avaí apart, and I can’t wait for the end of this season.
