Chelsea and Man Utd Monitor Di Maria
Thursday, 5th November 2009
Benfica winger Angel Di Maria is being monitored by both Chelsea and Manchester United, according to various reports in the British press. Di Maria is known to have impressed a whole host of clubs across Europe with his powerful performances for the Portuguese side. The Argentine is reported to have a buy-out clause of some €40M in his contract and Benfica are not thought to be averse to any deal.
The 21-year-old has apparently been watched by Chelsea’s Frank Arneson and representatives from Manchester United in recent weeks, and Di Maria has continued to impress. Whilst the winger mostly operates in powerful bursts, these are often enough to change the course of a game.
Di Maria is expected to feature heavily for Argentina at the World Cup and could well be the subject of an after tournament bidding war between the Premier League giants.
