Man Utd Linked with £15M Bid for Bayern’s Lahm
Sunday, 15th November 2009
Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm has been linked with a January move to Premier League giants Manchester United. The German international recently ran into trouble with the Bundesliga club when he criticised the club in an interview with a newspaper. Lahm was fined by Bayern following a meeting with the board and also apologised.
Now, according to a report from British paper the Sunday Mirror, Man Utd may have sensed an opportunity to snap up Lahm in January. The 26-year-old would be expected to cost in the region of £15M, but Lahm may be keen to escape the microscope at the Allianz Arena.
Following his newspaper attack on the club, former Bayern midfielder Stefan Effenberg commented, "It is going to be brutal for Lahm. His performance is going to be scrutinised after every game now."
