Bayern’s Hoeness: Franck Ribery Could Leave

Print for later?

Monday, 23rd November 2009

Reports in Bild am Sonntag and Daily Mail state, Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness has admitted that Franck Ribery could be allowed to leave if his club do not match the player’s ambitions. Hoeness, who has recently admitted to rejecting a £58.5M plus Jose Bosingwa bid from Chelsea in the summer, could be left to rue the missed opportunity of cashing in on the French winger when he had the chance.

Bayern Munich have suffered a dismal start to the season, currently sitting in seventh place in the Bundesliga standings and in danger of not qualifying for the knockout stages in the Champions League – a situation that has undoubtedly alerted the big clubs.

If Ribery, who has been plagued with injury as of late, decides that the German giants no longer provide the proper venue for success, then Bayern Munich would have missed out on massive bids such as those made by Chelsea last summer. The asking price to land the talented Frenchman could now be significantly reduced if the player expresses his desire to leave Bayern.
