Atletico Madrid’s Diego Forlan: I Want to End My Career Here.
Thursday, 26th November 2009
An interview on UEFA’s official website reveals Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan’s take on his club’s radical change of fortune, and his desire to remain with Los Colchoneros until the end of his career.
Fielding questions from football fans around the world, Forlan shared his view on his club’s strange situation this year, that has seen Atletico Madrid rooted in the La Liga relegation zone: “The big difference is our position in the table and the fact that we’re currently going through some bad times even though the squad is made up of the same players who enjoyed so much success last season.”
The 30-year-old two-time European Golden Shoe winner, who recently extended his contract, also revealed his intention to finish his football career with Atletico Madrid, saying, “Yes, I would like to end my career at Atlético, but it is not dependent only on me. England, and the Premier League, gave me many things and I thank them for that. If I have a chance to return, I would like to go, but I feel I have nothing to prove there.”
