Robinho Set To Stay At Manchester City

Print for later?

Friday, 27th November 2009

ESPN Soccernet has reported that sources close to Manchester City’s Robinho claim the Brazilian is no longer interested in seeking a move to Barcelona and that “it is not true” that the 25-year-old no longer wants to play for current manager Mark Hughes.

Two reasons have been cited for Robinho’s sudden desire to abandon the Barcelona switch, and focus on doing well for Man City. Firstly, Barcelona, who are strapped for cash, were seeking a possible loan deal, something that the blue half of Manchester are not remotely interested in. Secondly, with the Brazilian out injured since August, a need to prove his fitness will be necessary before any interest is resurrected.

The former Real Madrid attacker is expected to make his long-awaited return to the Man City squad when his club face Hull at the weekend. Manager Mark Hughes will be hoping Robinho’s influence can snap his side’s run of six draws in their last six Premier League appearances.
