Zdenek Zeman Unimpressed With Jose Mourinho

Friday, 27th November 2009

Former Lazio and AS Roma manager Zdenek Zeman is reportedly unimpressed with Jose Mourinho, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The retired tactician, who was one of the strongest advocates of the 4-3-3 formation in Italy, is well-known for his attacking style of play. Although Inter Milan are currently top of Serie A, and most likely to win the Scudetto, according to Zeman, the 62-year-old Czech is disappointed Mourinho’s side isn’t playing better football.

When Mourinho arrived, he told everyone that he would show how to utilise a 4-3-3 and it never happened. The problem is that you must choose the proper players and he has got them wrong," Zeman said. "Everyone expected to see better football from Inter and instead, as we saw last year, Mourinho was happy to exploit Ibrahimovic. This year, he has done it [not played attractive football] again, but I think that football is a team effort.”

This criticism, coupled with Barcelona’s recent destruction of Inter Milan, show the self-proclaimed “Special One” isn’t enjoying the heights he thought he could take the four-time consecutive Serie A champions to.
