Jack Warner Comes Out in Support of England World Cup Bid
Saturday, 28th November 2009
CONCACAF president Jack Warner has seemingly come out in favour of England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup. Warner had previously been critical of the English FA’s bid and remained to be convinced of its merits.
Warner met British prime minister Gordon Brown and, following that meeting said, "Brown felt England’s time has come, I agreed."
The 66-year-old, who has been CONCACAF president since 1990, went on to say, "England has the best infrastructure to stage the tournament. After a 52-year gap it is England’s time."
Jack Warner is viewed as an extremely influential figure within FIFA and some had called his support "essential" to England’s hopes of hosting the 2018 World Cup.
