Carlo Ancelotti: Chelsea Will Win Title

Print for later?

Monday, 30th November 2009

Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea completed a clean sweep of the Premier League’s “big four” with an impressive 3-0 win over Arsenal. A brace from the in-form Ivorian striker Didier Drogba, and an own goal from Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen re-established Chelsea’s five-point cushion over Manchester United at the top of the league standings. With another resounding clean sheet victory for Ancelotti, the Italian manager is confident his side will remain at the top of the table and be champions at season’s end.

I believe we will win the title,” Ancelotti told The Times. “When I signed a contract with Chelsea I believed we’d win something. We started the season believing that we could win. Our objective is to stay in all the competitions until the end of the season and then, if we can win, we will try to do that.”

Chelsea have been dominant under their new manager, with many likening their team spirit to that of when they dominated English football with Jose Mourinho in charge. The Blues now face a tricky trip to Manchester City, and a home match against struggling Everton in their next two Premier League outings – their two most difficult fixtures until January.
