Frank Lampard: Chelsea Trio the Best In the World
Tuesday, 1st December 2009
Frank Lampard has told his club’s official website that he believes Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole and Nicolas Anelka are the world’s best players in their positions. These comments come after Chelsea dismantled Arsenal 3-0 at the weekend, and recorded their fifth successive Premier League clean-sheet victory – a run that has seen the blues smash in an average of slightly more than three goals per game.
It is therefore unsurprising that Lampard had nothing but great things to say about his team’s potent strike-force, stating, “We have the best strikers in the world. When you have those men up front who are organised like we have, their partnership is absolutely formidable.”
The 31-year-old England midfielder also reserved special praise for his countryman Ashley Cole, who has continued to impress as Chelsea’s first-choice left-back. “For me, for the last two years he has been completely out on his own as the best left back in the world.” Such belief in each others’ abilities has carried Chelsea to the pinnacle of the Premier League standings, with many tipping the London club to regain the title from Manchester United by season’s end.
