The Club World Cup has been much criticised in its short history, but mainly by Europeans. Often for the rest of the world’s clubs the competition is something to aim at, for a large payday of course, but also for a unique chance to test themselves against clubs from rival confederations. The tournament might not be perfect, but it plays an essential role.

Inside Futbol is treating the tournament with the respect it deserves. All the competing teams here are previewed, no matter how small, and we also have a general introduction to this year’s event. It’s sure to be an intriguing Club World Cup with perhaps one or two shocks along the way. The United Arab Emirates will be our hosts, with two stadiums used, though the Sheikh Zayed Stadium (pictured above) will host both the final and the third place playoff.

Enjoy the action!
