On the day striker Jo agreed to follow defender Lucas Neill to Galatasaray, Everton agreed a deal with Slovakian goalkeeper Jan Mucha. The 27-year-old is expected to join the Merseyside club when his deal with current club Legia Warsaw wraps up in the summer.

Mucha is Slovakia’s first-choice keeper, and barring any injury, will be almost certain to represent the side in June’s World Cup in South Africa. The ECHO reports the player will join up with the Everton squad after the tournament concludes.

In other Everton transfer activity, Brazilian striker Jo, who earlier this month was suspended by manager David Moyes for returning to his native country during the Christmas period without permission, has been sent out on loan to Galatasaray despite the club’s lacking forward line.
