Bolton’s Cahill to Face Lengthy Spell on Sidelines
Monday, 8th February 2010
Bolton Wanderers confirmed that influential defender Gary Cahill will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a blood clot in his left arm was found by doctors on Saturday. The former Aston Villa player has been a central figure at the Reebok Stadium since his move in 2008, and his prominence earned him an England call up last year.
“On Thursday, Gary felt tightness in his arm and on Friday there was a little bit of swelling,” manager Owen Coyle explained in the club’s official website. “He came in for the game on Saturday morning and the swelling was quite serious, and after further examination the medical staff decided to take him to the hospital straight away.”
The 24-year-old won Best Newcomer in his first year at Bolton, and has gone on to become an automatic inclusion in the heart of defence when he is fit. Such is his success with the Wanderers that he has previously been linked with a host of top English clubs.
