Bayern Munich’s Butt and Schweinsteiger to Miss Out in German Cup Tie

Bayern Munich have been in sparkling form in the last few months, winning their last 11 mathces in all competitions. They are now equal on points with Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who have been top of the league virtually from the get go and are still unbeaten in the competition.

The German giants face second division side Greuther Fürth in the German Cup on Wednesday, and with an eye on the intense pile up of fixtures, manager Louis van Gaal has decided to rest goalkeeperr Jörg Butt and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to the club’s official website.

Bayern play four times in the next two weeks, including the important Champions League last 16 tie against Italian side Fiorentina at home.
