Sheffield United’s Gary Speed Likes Wales’ Chances against England

Former Wales captain Gary Speed believes his country were done a service by being grouped with England in the 2012 European Championships qualifying round. The former Newcastle great and current player-manager of Sheffield United points to the emerging Welsh talents, such as Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, to finally prove the nation’s international quality.
“Of course Wales have a chance of beating England," the most capped Welsh player, Speed, told BBC Sport. "If it was Spain, France, Germany or Italy I wouldn’t be so sure. But because it’s England, and it will be a derby, anything can happen."
Wales will attempt to qualify for their first major tournament since the earned a spot in the 1958 World Cup.
