Malouda: Chelsea Cannot be Cautious

Print for later?

Tuesday, 16th March 2010

Florent Malouda believes Chelsea should not make the same mistake they made against Liverpool last year, when they squandered a 3-1 first leg advantage by going 2-0 down within half an hour in the second leg of the match. The Frenchman believes a cautious approach doesn’t suit his side, and that they should be willing to attack and take the game to Inter Milan.

"Take risks one way or the other,” Malouda replied on France Football on how his side should approach the match tonight. “We’re not a team that likes to be cautious. I think back to the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Liverpool last year. We had an advantage over them after the first leg and we played cautiously. Result, we were 2-0 down after thirty minutes. No, we must give everything, and have no regrets.”

Manager Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping Malouda is at his attacking best like he was against West Ham United at the weekend, as his side try to reverse a 2-1 deficit to Inter.
