Real Madrid’s van der Vaart: I’m Glad Ronaldo’s not Injured after Horror Tackle

Print for later?

Wednesday, 17th March 2010

Rafael van der Vaart enjoyed only his second full game for Real Madrid in the side’s 4-1 victory over Real Valladolid at the weekend. The Dutchman enjoyed an impressive performance in the one-sided affair, but claims opponent Nivaldo, should have been sent off for a malicious tackle on team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I believe Nivaldo’s tackle on Ronaldo should have resulted in a red card, but the referee didn’t see it,” van der Vaart said on the club’s official website. “These things happen. I was very close and saw how his boot hit Cristiano’s leg. I’m glad he isn’t injured. He could have been seriously hurt."

Van der Vaart is currently enjoying a rare run in the side due to Kaka’s unavailability due to injury.
