Barcelona are weighing up whether to reignite their interest in Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano. The little Argentine was linked heavily with a move to the Camp Nou last summer and Barcelona's interest was very real. Now they could revisit the Argentina man, but only if Yaya Toure exits the La Liga giants.

Toure is a target for several English clubs and could still be used as a makeweight in the likely transfer of Cesc Fabregas to Arsenal. Should the Ivory Coast man leave, which Barcelona are not in any way opposed to, then Mascherano is Josep Guardiola's preferred target according to El Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona also feel that Liverpool would be willing to part with their midfielder for the right price. Mascherano sees his present Liverpool deal expire in 2012, with so far little sign of an extension being signed, and The Reds would gain the maximum fee for him this summer, rather than running his contract down to a single year left to run next summer.
