After winning their first Ligue 1 title in 18 years, Olympique Marseille are desperate to add to their squad to improve their chances of remaining at the pinnacle of French football. According to French paper L’Equipe, at the top of their wish list this summer is Toulouse striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, who was the league’s top goal scorer in the 2008/09 season.

Despite netting just 11 times in the last campaign, Gignac remains hot property, and OM are looking to land him during the transfer window as soon as possible. The 24-year-old will be on the plane to South Africa with France to compete in the World Cup in South Africa.

It is understood manager Didier Deschamps had Rennes’ Jimmy Briand as his initial preference, but the player is expected to be joining Olympique Lyon in the summer.
