Schalke’s own galacticos combined to give the Bundesliga club a precious victory last night, as they saw off St. Pauli by three goals to nil on home turf. The Ruhr giants have had a nightmare start to the season and the win was only their second of the campaign in the league.

The Bundesliga giants had summer signings Raul and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to thank for the three points, as the Spaniard bagged a brace and the Dutchman added another. It completed a comfortable night’s work for Schalke and their boss Felix Magath will surely hope more is to come as they look to climb up the table.

Schalke now have nine points from eleven games and are a whopping 16 points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund. However, Bayern Munich, the benchmark by which many Bundesliga clubs measure themselves, sit just six points ahead of Magath’s men.
