Bayern Munich are believed to be watching the situation of Ryan Babel at Liverpool with interest. Bayern boss Louis van Gaal has paid attention to Babel’s progress at Anfield and was linked with a move for his fellow Dutchman last year, however nothing materialised.

Babel almost moved to Birmingham City when Rafael Benitez was in charge of Liverpool, but despite a £9M offer being deemed good enough, the Spaniard refused to sell, suspecting he would not receive the fee to reinvest in the side.

Now under new owners and with a new manager, Babel has still failed to shine in a Liverpool shirt and the decision to pay Ajax £11.5M for his services in 2007 appears a poor one. The Dutchman has struggled to fulfil his potential whenever given a chance and looks no nearer to doing so under new manager Roy Hodgson. Babel therefore may welcome the chance to relaunch his career at the Allianz Arena under Van Gaal.
