Reports in Italy suggest Fiorentina are looking closely at Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander.

The 29-year-old’s current contract with the English side expires at the end of the season, and La Viola see him as a cut-price replacement for Adrian Mutu; the troubled Romanian striker is expected to leave the club.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A side have been impressed with Elmander’s displays for Bolton in the Premier League this season and believe he would be a good addition to their squad. The Swede is also has a style of play Fiorentina believe could prosper in Serie A.

While La Viola could wait until the end of the season to snaffle up Elmander, a small offer in January cannot be ruled out and much would depend on the attitude of Bolton themselves and whether they wish to realise some sort of fee for the Swede.
