Chelsea face competition from three Italian clubs in their pursuit of young Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. The Stamford Bridge side have been monitoring the 19-year-old closely, scouting him as he turns out for current club Genk, but they will not have a free run at his signature.

According to De Bruyne’s agent Frank Lovino, Genoa, AC Milan and Sampdoria are all very interested in the youngster and have signalled their intention to move for the Belgian.

However, Genk’s position on De Bruyne is currently that they are unwilling to lose the midfielder in this month’s transfer window, and instead want to look closely at offers in the summer.

Such a situation is thought to suit De Bruyne and would allow him extra time to decide whether it is in England or Italy that he wishes to continue his promising career.
