Following talk that Ruud van Nistelrooy could be heading back to Real Madrid to answer the Spanish club’s striker SOS, Hamburg have denied that they will part with the Dutchman.

Van Nistelrooy starred yesterday in the Bundesliga as Hamburg won away to Schalke. The striker’s goal in the 53rd minute was the only one of the match and handed his side all three points.

"Real would have him, Ruud told me that himself", said Hamburg coach Armin Veh, before adding, "but we will not lose him. Officially we have heard nothing from Madrid. Ultimately it is up to the club to decide what happens to Ruud, no matter the coach."

And while Van Nistelrooy is known to find a return to Real Madrid, who he played for between 2006 and 2010, an attractive proposition, his exploits for his Bundesliga club mean Hamburg are more than reluctant to release the 34-year-old.
