AC Milan and Liverpool look set to do battle in the summer for Ajax’s Danish prodigy Christian Eriksen. The Anfield side have scouted the 18-year-old on a number of occasions in recent months and the Rossoneri too are paying close attention to the attacking midfielder, regularly sending observers to Amsterdam.

Ajax are bracing themselves for a series of enquiries for Eriksen, and the player himself is well aware that he is being watched on a regular basis.

"At every Ajax match scouts follow me", said Eriksen to Voetbal International, "so there is it."

But the Dane has reassured the Ajax faithful that he is not thinking about leaving Amsterdam, even though a wave of big-money bids could force the Dutch giants to think long and hard about their position.

"I’m not thinking about me [leaving]", said the youngster. "In fact, I think I put my contract with Ajax first."

At 18 years old, Ajax have tipped Eriksen for a bright future and will not want to lose such a promising talent so early in his career. However, the Dutch side have been vulnerable to big-money bids before, and should Liverpool and Milan place substantial offers on the table, Eriksen may be nudged towards the Amsterdam ArenA exit door.
