Aston Villa and Bordeaux are preparing to lock horns over Le Havre’s highly rated young midfielder Gueida Fofana. The Le Havre player is expected to be sold at the end of the current campaign, although the coastal club may try to keep hold of him should they gain promotion to Ligue 1.

Just 19 years old, Fofana has already made an impact with France’s international teams, having worked his way up through the Under-16s, 17s, 18s, 19s and 20s. A defensive midfielder known for his all-action style of play and unwavering commitment to the cause, the Le Havre youngster has been tipped for big things.

And he has come to the attention of both English Premier League side Aston Villa and Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux. Villa’s French boss Gerard Houllier will go head-to-head with Bordeaux in the summer, with the intention of ensuring Fofana continues his development outside of France.
