Fulham have been linked with a summer swoop for Liverpool’s Joe Cole.

Cole has failed to shine at Anfield since arriving from Chelsea last year and it remains to be seen whether he will be in Kenny Dalglish’s plans for next season.

One of the highest paid players at the club, offloading Cole from the wage bill would also help to offset the likely cost of no European football for the Reds next season, while also freeing up some space for new arrivals.

And the midfielder is attracting much interest, with Fulham joining a list that includes Tottenham Hotspur, Birmingham City and West Ham – all clubs that are pondering a summer move for Cole.

A return to London would be sure to appeal to the midfielder if he felt he could not make the breakthrough to regular first team performer at Anfield. Indeed, much depends on the 29-year-old’s judgement of his likely future at Liverpool.
