Santos have rejected a bid of some €34M for Neymar from Chelsea. The Blues have long been interested in the Brazilian striker, but the €34M figure is thought to be their first 'official' offer for the 19-year-old – and it was swiftly rejected.

According to Catalan daily Sport, Santos quickly decided to turn down the bid from Chelsea when it arrived, though the size of the bid delighted club officials, confirming that when Neymar is sold it will be for a hefty price.

Santos wish to keep hold of Neymar in a bid to win this year's Copa Libertadores and face crucial matches this month in their push to do so. However, if their bid falters, the Brazilian club will listen to offers for their highly-rated youngster in the summer.

And Chelsea will not be alone in the race for Neymar, with AC Milan also thought to have let Santos know that they would like to be kept informed of developments. A revival of interest from Barcelona also cannot be ruled out.
