Michel Bastos’ agent has admitted that Juventus are in pole position to sign the flying Brazilian full back from Lyon, but also conceded that two of the biggest clubs in England are also keen on his client.

Those sides are believed to be Arsenal and Liverpool, but the duo face a battle to jump ahead of the Bianconeri in the queue for the 27-year-old.

Lyon, who would still like to keep hold of Bastos, have seen their position boosted by holding off a late challenge from Paris Saint-Germain to qualify for next season’s Champions League. For a club that recorded a loss of €35M in their last accounts, the lifeline of participation in Europe’s showpiece event will help Les Gones to drive up their asking price for the Brazilian, or even ultimately fight off interest.

"Recent media reports concerning Bastos are correct", said the player’s agent Emmanuel De Kerchove, "there are several clubs interested in him and Juventus are the main suitors.

"However, two top English clubs are keen on Bastos too.

"We’ll see what happens in a few weeks."

Bastos joined Lyon in 2009 from rival Ligue 1 club Lille, but having played his football in France since 2006, is believed to be keen on experiencing another country’s top flight.
