Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has spoken out in support of a switch to the Camp Nou for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian has been targeted by the Catalan giants and is known to be keen on a move to join Pique at the Spanish champions. However, Barcelona have a limited transfer budget and a deal with Villarreal looks far from done and dusted.

But Pique would like to once again play with Rossi: The two were together as youngsters at Manchester United.

"We came together at Old Trafford and for a while played in the same team", explained Pique.

"Rossi has so much talent, good control and is very fast. He fits neatly into Barcelona as both a man and a player."

Villarreal are looking for a substantial fee to release Rossi and, with Barcelona already hot on the heels of Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, it remains to be seen whether Josep Guardiola’s side choose to make Rossi a priority.
