Chelsea are working to capture Genk starlet Thibaut Courtois and the Belgian keeper admits he is flattered by interest from the English club and has heard all about their plans for his future.

Courtois played a key role in Genk’s title win this season and, along with team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, has caught the eye of the Stamford Bride club. It is something that the 19-year-old is delighted about and he believes the English side want him as their eventual number 1.

Speaking about interest from Chelsea to FM Brussel, Courtois explained that: "But I definitely play next season at Genk. Maybe I stay even two years at Genk and only then I will [move to Chelsea].

"It is certainly good that Chelsea has so much confidence in me."

The 19-year-old explained he had heard all about Chelsea’s plan to groom him as the club’s number 1 when current custodian Petr Cech has moved on.

"Chelsea has a nice sporting plan ready where I can ease into the position of first choice goalkeeper and can grow within a few years.

"It is not about one or two years, but three, four or five years so that I can develop peacefully."
