Serbian misfit Milan Jovanovic has revealed that Liverpool have asked him to find another club and will not demand a transfer fee to release him – music to the ears of Olympiacos.

The 30-year-old landed at Anfield last summer in a deal arranged by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez before his sacking and replacement by Roy Hodgson; the ex-Fulham boss used him sparingly.

Jovanovic’s prospects have not improved under Hodgson’s replacement Kenny Dalglish, with the Scot eager to ship out the former Standard Liege forward.

"Liverpool said I am free to find a new team", said Jovanovic, who has been linked with a move to Greek giants Olympiacos.

Asked about joining the Athens club, Jovanovic stated that he had "not yet received a formal offer from Olympiacos, but I am eager to learn more about their intentions."

Nicknamed "the Snake" because of his quick movement and slick dribbling, the Serbian admitted earlier in the season that moving to Liverpool had been a mistake due to the lack of first team opportunities he was enduring.

The Serbia star turned down a switch to Real Madrid in favour of heading to Anfield.
