The agent of highly rated Brazilian striker Hulk has revealed that FC Porto have rejected a bid of €80M for his client, with hints the bid could have come from Chelsea.

Hulk has been prolific with Porto in Portuguese football and was a key figure behind the club’s impressive domestic title win last season; Europe was conquered too as Porto picked up the Europa League.

However, the 25-year-old’s future has been called into question regularly since Andre Villas-Boas quit as Porto boss to move to Chelsea earlier this summer.

Indeed, upon Villas-Boas’ arrival at Stamford Bridge, a move for Hulk was immediately mooted, with the 33-year-old rating the Brazilian.

Porto though remain in the driving seat over Hulk, with the striker’s buy-out clause standing at a substantial €100M.

And according to Hulk’s agent Teodoro Fonseca, the Portuguese side have already rejected a huge bid for the striker, determined that he will not leave for less than his buy-out amount.

"I’d be lying if I said there were no offers for Hulk", said Fonseca.

"I think the highest was about €80M, but Porto would not even negotiate."

The Brazilian’s agent would not be drawn on the name of the interested party, claiming to be sworn to secrecy, although he did state that with such a high offer it was not difficult to guess at the name of the side, with Villas-Boas’ Chelsea a clear possibility.

"I cannot tell you the name [of the club], but it is not difficult to guess because there are few clubs able to pay that amount."
