Sevilla are ready to ask Barcelona for Dutch attacking midfielder Ibrahim Afellay on loan.

Afellay will, Sevilla reason, find playing time at the Camp Nou hard to come by this season, with the Blaugrana’s new signing Alexis Sanchez instantly jumping ahead of the Dutchman in the pecking order.

This has led Sevilla to believe that the prospect of loaning Afellay from the European Champions is a realistic one.

And while Los Rojiblancos have not yet officially asked Barcelona for the former PSV Eindhoven man, their request is expected to land soon.

Barcelona will not contemplate a permanent transfer, given that the player only arrived at the Camp Nou in January and is under contract until 2015.

The Blaugrana’s attitude towards a loan remains unclear, but Barcelona and Sevilla enjoy a good relationship.
