Germany striker Lukas Podolski has emerged as a possible target for English Premier League outfit Arsenal.

The Koln hitman was reported to be on his way to Galatasaray last week and the Turkish club were confident that Podolski would grace the Turk Telekom Arena.

But Koln suddenly stated that the 26-year-old was going nowhere, although coach Stale Solbakken did leave the door open for a possible switch to the Gunners by stating he believed the striker could only go to a big club.

"I got a call three or four days ago from an agent who wanted to know if Podolski was for sale", Koln sporting director Volker Finke told Bild.

"The conversation was very brief. I told him that we were keeping him, no ifs and no buts."

But while Finke was quick to close the door, Koln coach Solbakken pushed it open slightly.

"I have spoken on the phone with Luka twice over the weekend and he said nothing about Galatasaray", said the Norwegian boss.

"I get the impression that he will stay. He’s not a player for Galatasaray, but for a big club."

And Arsenal have been linked with the former Bayern Munich man, who could follow Park Chu-Young into the Emirates.
