La Liga outfit Espanyol have been linked with a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Giovani dos Santos.

The Barcelona-based club want to add attacking intent to their side before the transfer window closes and provide support for the likes of young starlet Alvaro Vazquez.

Espanyol have already been eyeing Spurs for Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko, but there are concerns that the player’s wage demands could derail any deal.

Dos Santos however, a former Barcelona star, is viewed as an affordable option by the Spanish side.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at fellow La Liga club Racing Santander and has been linked with Sevilla for much of this summer.

No move has materialised though and the Mexican international can be expected to jump at the chance to join Espanyol.

The Spanish side would look to do a loan deal first with Spurs for Dos Santos, with a view to a permanent move.
