Former Liverpool Boss Rafael Benitez Reveals Host of Job Offers

Friday, 9th September, 2011

Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he has refused managerial job offers from across the world as he seeks to make sure his next post is the right one.

The Spaniard has been out of work since being sacked as Inter coach in December last year, but despite being tipped for a quick return to the game, is still pondering his next move.

"I had indirect contact with Roma earlier this year", Benitez told Gazzetta dello Sport, "as well as three teams in Spain, two in Germany and some national sides in Asia and Africa."

The 51-year-old is vowing to take his time though.

"But I will wait for the right time and the right project."

Benitez also slammed Inter for not backing him in the transfer market, explaining he wanted Alexis Sanchez from Udinese far before Barcelona – the Chilean moved this summer to the Camp Nou.

"I requested [Javier] Mascherano and even Alexis Sanchez in January, who would have cost half the fee Barcelona paid for him this summer."
