Sochaux foward Modibo Maiga and midfielder Kevin Anin have been ordered to train with the club’s reserves until further notice.

The pair skipped training on Monday, without providing an explanation, and were instantly punished by the Ligue 1 club.

Maiga was a target for English Premier League side Newcastle United over the summer and spoke out against Sochaux for blocking a move to St. James’ Park.

The 25-year-old was subsequently dropped for the club’s Europa League clash at Metalist Kharkiv.

It did appear however that the Mali international had now accepted the club’s decision not to sell him and was determined to get on with the current season.

Coach Mehmed Bazdarevic declared his unhappiness with the duo.

"I regret not having the players ready to do their job", said the Sochaux boss.

"It annoys me.

"They must respect the club, the squad and the work."
