Lassana Diarra is hoping to stay at Real Madrid despite the transfer saga that engulfed him during the summer.

Los Blancos had agreed to sell the midfielder to Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closed, but Diarra refused to move to White Hart Lane.

Yet despite having been omitted from Real Madrid’s pre-season tours to North America and Asia and clearly being surplus to requirements, Jose Mourinho declared that he would use Diarra for as long as he remained at the club.

And Diarra is encouraged by how things are progressing at the Bernabeu, leading him to believe he may see out his contract with the Spanish giants.

"I’m thinking of staying here until the end of my contract", said Diarra.

"I’m under contract until 2013 and I would like to see through my commitment."

The Frenchman still faces a battle to cement a spot in Mourinho’s side, with Real Madrid spoilt for choice in midfield.
