Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is plotting to lavish millions on two Ligue 1 talents in the January transfer window.

The Gunners boss is aware of his club’s need for fresh faces and he is poised to snap up two of the most promising players from his homeland.

On Wenger’s radar are Rennes tough-tackling midfield general Yann M’Vila and Sochaux’s exciting attacking midfield wizard Marvin Martin.

Lille forward Eden Hazard is also wanted by Wenger, but the Frenchman accepts that Rudi Garcia’s side are unlikely to part with the Belgian in January and, when the time does come for the 20-year-old to move on, there is certain to be a transfer scramble for his services, with the fee required a substantial one.

The Arsenal manager therefore will concentrate his fire on M’Vila and Martin; with a winter budget approaching £50M having been made available if required, Wenger should have little difficulty in persuading Rennes and Sochaux respectively to sell, albeit for record-breaking fees.

M’Vila is under contract with Rennes until 2015 and has made ten starts in this season’s Ligue 1.

Martin too is under lock and key to Sochaux until 2015 and, from the 23-year-old’s eight Ligue 1 games in the current campaign, has provided an impressive four assists.
