Juventus could rival Liverpool for Bologna’s Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Ramirez.

The 20-year-old has been attracting scouts to the Rossoblu for a number of months and his performances have caused Bologna to open talks over a new contract in an attempt to ward off potential suitors.

Indeed, Ramirez earns just €275,000 per year with Bologna at present, but the Italian side are offering to skyrocket that to €800,000 in the hope of strengthening their position.

Liverpool, who have taken a liking to the Uruguayan talent factory, are believed to be ready to move for Ramirez, possibly as soon as the winter window; but now Juventus have been revealed as admirers, with talk in Turin that Ramirez could even be the heir to Alessandro Del Piero.

"Juventus were tracking him in the summer", revealed Ramirez’ agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito, "but at the moment there is nothing new."

D’Ippolito was also asked whether, as had been suggested, Ramirez could be the heir to Del Piero.

"We’ll see", said the agent.

"For the moment there has not been contact with Juve. We’re talking about [a new contract with Bologna], let’s see how the negotiation will proceed."
