Ricky van Wolfswinkel can leave Sporting Lisbon if his buy-out clause of €22M is met, his agent has confirmed.

The Dutchman has impressed with the Portuguese side since being snapped up from FC Utrecht in the summer for just €5.4M.

Since that time both Liverpool and Manchester United have had the 22-year-old watched and each have pondered making an offer.

But with Sporting not keen to sell a player they just bought and who has instantly been amongst the goals in Portuguese football, the only clear way for Van Wolfswinkel to switch clubs is for his buy-out clause to be met.

The player’s agent Louis Laros has confirmed the €22M figure and also revealed that he considers it quite a coup to have had the amount set so low in the first place.

"Portuguese talk about an extended contract is premature", said Laros. "The commitment of Van Wolfswinkel runs until 2016, but he does have a clause.

"With a bid of €22M he can leave Sporting."

And the striker’s agent also added it was tough getting such a low clause in Van Wolfswinkel’s deal.

"Incidentally, this clause was initially even higher, but we got that amount down.

"It was one of the contentious negotiating issues."
