Bayern Munich have been handed a boost with the news that the injury Bastian Schweinsteiger suffered against Nurnberg at the weekend is not as bad as first thought.

The Germany star had to leave the pitch after 71 minutes in the 4-0 win and it was instantly assumed that he would spend some time on sidelines, almost certainly missing the Bavarians’ midweek Champions League clash against Napoli.

But now it seems that Schweinsteiger is already well on the way to recovery.

"Things are much better today", commented Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes.

It is even believed now that Schweinsteiger has an outside chance of playing against Napoli on Wednesday.
