Liverpool are in pole position to snap up highly rated AIK Solna star William Sheriff.

The 15-year-old midfielder has been earmarked as a star of the future by the Swedish club and scouts have been flocking to Stockholm to monitor his development.

In particular Sheriff has been on the wanted list of both AC Milan and Inter of late, but Liverpool appear the player’s favoured destination if he chooses to leave AIK.

The Sierra Leone-born starlet was offered the chance to join Liverpool in the past, but opted to head to AIK instead of Anfield, signing for the Swedish giants from local outfit Gefle IF in August.

Liverpool have continued to keep a close watch on Sheriff however and with Milan and Inter stepping up their interest, appear to have been forced to do likewise.

The left-footed midfielder, who has a quick turn of pace and has been described as mature beyond his years, has continued his development and AIK fear losing his services sooner rather than later.

One of the reasons Sheriff opted to join AIK in the summer is thought to have been because the youngster’s uncle is an avid supporter of Gnagets and convinced him his career would be better served by an extended spell in Sweden.
