Bayern Munich are believed to hold an interest in Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva.
Bavaria has become a hotbed of transfer planning of late, with coach Jupp Heynckes already considering potential targets for the winter window and next summer.
And Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder has been penciled in as a possibility.
Bayern Munich are well aware that a sizeable bid would be needed to tempt Liverpool into parting with the 24-year-old and a figure of €15M has been floated within Germany.
Lucas was snapped up by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez from Gremio in 2007 and arrived on Merseyside with a big reputation and the Bola de Ouro, an award handed out to the best player in the Brasileiro, under his belt.
Despite being considered a forward-thinking midfielder in his homeland, capable of bursting attacking runs, Lucas was soon converted to a defensive midfielder at Anfield.
And following a tough adaptation period, the Brazilian has become an essential part of the Reds’ side.
With the club having slipped out of the Champions League however and a Premier League title challenge looking but a distant prospect, Lucas may be attracted to the idea of a switch to Bayern Munich.
