Bayern Munich defender Daniel van Buyten has declared his wish to remain with the German club despite strong interest from Marseille.
Van Buyten is on Marseille boss Didier Deschamps’ radar as the Stade Velodrome outfit look to increase their defensive options.
But the Belgian defender does not want to quit the Allianz Arena just yet and Bayern supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently commented that he could not see anyone leaving the club during the January transfer window.
Those words were music to Van Buyten’s ears.
"I’m playing with Bayern Munich and I hope to remain doing so", said the defender, who represented Marseille between 2001 and 2004.
"I feel happy here and I still believe I am of value to the team."
But the centre back admitted he could move if he was deemed surplus to requirements.
"I would just normally complete my contract, but I am willing to leave if Bayern want to sell."
