Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has dropped a big hint that he intends to move to the English Premier League at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old is the southern France club’s captain and is highly rated by coach Rene Girard.

However, Yanga-Mbiwa, who has been with Montpellier since joining the club’s youth set-up in 2005, is pondering a future away from the Stade de la Mosson.

And with English outfit Newcastle having been heavily linked with a move, the defender has given his future some thought.

"We’ll see what all the proposals are", said Yanga-Mbiwa, who will have just one year left to run on his Montpellier contract at the end of the season and has not ruled out signing an extension. Though the defender confirmed England is definitely in his future plans.

"But it’s true that England is something unbelievably good, unexpected.

"In terms of the physicality, it’s something good and something I like.

"Above all, they live for football and that’s what I want to experience one day."
