AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has stated his belief that he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Ibrahimovic is currently starring with the Rossoneri, a side he helped to win the Serie A title last season after a 12-month spell to forget with Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

The talented Swede has been largely overlooked in the "best player in the world" talk, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dominating discussion.

Indeed, the Argentine and Portuguese are expected to go head-to-head for the 2011 Ballon d’Or at the start of January.

Ibrahimovic though does not need to be handed the Ballon d’Or to believe that he is the very best player on the planet.

"Messi is very strong and I hope he continues in that way", said Ibrahimovic to Telefoot.

"He has won almost everything and is still very young."

Asked who he would back as the best player in the world out of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi however, the Swede was siding with neither – and instead putting himself forward for the accolade.

"In my head I am the strongest of all"
, said the Milan hitman.

"I certainly don’t need the Ballon d’Or to prove that I am number one."
